John M. Shaginaw, PE, MBA, Principal

John is responsible for the overall management, finances and human resources of LLI Engineering. He supervises all recruiting, benefits, 401k, legal and financial administration matters. Project financial reports are prepared and reviewed with managers on a monthly basis.

He obtained a Bachelor's of Science (Civil Engineering) from Penn State University in 1970. With a strong interest in the business management aspects of the engineering profession, he earned his Master's in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 1981.

John began his career working for Chicago Bridge & Iron Company. He then served two years in the US Army during the Vietnam crisis. Upon completing his service requirement in 1972, John joined the Dravo Corporation - Chemical Plants Division where he worked as a structural engineer. Over the next several years Mr. Shaginaw became an engineering supervisor for the project designs of various plants throughout the Unites States. He then joined Projec, a Pittsburgh based consulting engineering firm, where he was Partner until joining LLI. John obtained his Professional Engineer's license in 1976.

Mr. Shaginaw is a professional engineer in three states and an active member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. Like many of our clients, he is an investor in a variety of real estate projects including multi-family residential and commercial office.

     
 
 
 

Ernest M. Tillman, PE, Principal

As Principal, Ernie is responsible for LLI Engineering operations, internal functions, and overall performance of projects. He contributes to, supports, and helps to execute the firm's administrative direction and strategies. Ernie has primary responsibility for engineering project cost and schedule control.

Ernie has over twenty years of experience, beginning his professional career with Limbach Company in 1984 as a project management trainee. After several years of managing mechanical design-build projects, Ernie led the engineering team in Detroit, Michigan.

Mr. Tillman joined Harley-Ellis, one of the largest Architectural Engineering firms in Detroit as a Senior Engineer. He designed numerous hospitals and laboratories for clients including Parke-Davis, the Henry Ford Hospital, and the Ford Motor Company. In 1996, he returned home to Pittsburgh to join Eichleay Engineers as a Senior Engineer. He eventually became Director of Engineering.

Ernie holds a Bachelor in Architectural Engineering from Penn State University (1984) and an MBA from Duquesne University (2002). He is a registered Professional Engineer (mechanical) in fourteen states and is an active member of ASHRAE, and also the Hospital Engineers of Southwest Pennsylvania.

     
 
 
 

James D. White, PE, LEED AP, Principal

Jamie has been a Principal of LLI Engineering since 2000. He is responsible for business development, quality assurance, and client satisfaction. He contributes to the administrative direction and strategies of the company.

Mr. White began his career with the Unites States Army Corps of Engineers. After completing his service he worked for Dewberry and Davis - one of the largest engineering companies in the Eastern United Sates. Prior to joining LLI, he served as the Director of Engineering for a mid-size design-build mechanical contractor.

James holds a Bachelor of Science (Mechanical Engineering) degree from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and has completed many on-going certificate courses in professional development. He is a professional engineer in seven states, the first engineer in Pennsylvania to pass the ASHRAE High-Performance Building Design Professional exam, and he has authored several articles on mechanical and electrical systems design and construction. He has completed the University of Pittsburgh, Katz School of Business, Entrepreneurial Fellowship program.

Mr. White is a member NAIOP, ASHRAE, GBA, USGBC, and NFPA. He is actively involved in many community based organizations and is currently serving as a School Board Member of the Fort Cherry School District.
